The Sweet Story of Yashoda Maiya and Little Krishna
Once upon a time, in a beautiful village called Vrindavan, lived a kind and loving mother named Yashoda Maiya. She had a very special little boy with lotus-like eyes and a smile that shone like the sun. His name was Krishana.
The Yummy Butter Treat
Every morning, before the sun peeked over the hills, Yashoda Maiya would wake up to churn fresh, creamy milk into golden butter. Swish, swash, swish! went the pot. Little Krishna loved butter more than anything in the world!
“Yashoda is the mommy who feeds Krishna butter and tucks him into bed,” the village elders would say.
One day, Yashoda Maiya heard a soft tiptoe, tiptoe in the kitchen. She peeked behind the curtain and saw Krishna! He was standing on his tippy-toes, reaching for a pot of fresh butter hanging high up. He gave some to his friends and even shared a little with a hungry monkey.
Yashoda Maiya giggled softly. She wasn't angry; she loved her naughty "Butter Thief." She scooped him up in a big, warm hug. Krishna’s face was covered in white butter, looking like a little cloud!
“Oh, my little Kanha,” Yashoda laughed, wiping his cheeks. “You are the sweetest boy in all of Vrindavan.”
As the stars began to twinkle like tiny diamonds, Yashoda Maiya knew it was time for rest. She sat on the edge of the bed and pulled Krishna into her lap. She sang a sweet lullaby about the moon and the cows. She tucked him into his soft bed, making sure he was warm and cozy.
Krishna looked up at his mommy, held her hand, and drifted off to sleep with a happy heart. Yashoda Maiya watched him sleep, thankful for her wonderful boy. In Vrindavan, every child knows that Yashoda’s love is as big as the sky and as sweet as the butter she makes.
