Once upon a time, in a land of beautiful forests and blue rivers, lived a boy named Sudama. Sudama was very kind and very gentle and had a very special friend named Krishna.
When they were little, they went to school together in the forest. They played under the big trees and shared their snacks. Even though Krishna was a prince and Sudama was from a poor family, they were the very best of friends.
The Long Journey
Many years passed. Krishna became a great king in a golden city called Dwarka. Sudama lived in a tiny hut. He didn’t have much, but his heart was full of love.
One day, Sudama’s wife said, “You should go visit your old friend Krishna! I bet he misses you.”
Sudama smiled. “I would love to see him! ” But then he worried. “I have no fancy gift to give a king."
He looked around his kitchen and found just one small bag of poha (beaten rice). It wasn’t a lot, but it was all he had. He tied the rice in a little bundle and started his long walk to the big city.
The Big Hug
When Sudama reached the palace, the guards were surprised. “This man wants to see the King?” they wondered.
But as soon as Krishna heard Sudama was there, he didn’t walk—he ran! Krishna jumped up from his golden throne and ran all the way to the gate. When he saw Sudama, he gave him the biggest, warmest hug ever!
Krishna took Sudama inside, sat him on his own throne, and washed his tired feet. They laughed and talked about the fun times they had as children.
The Handful of Rice
Sudama felt a little shy about his small gift. He tried to hide the little bundle of rice behind his back. But Krishna noticed and laughed. “Is that for me?”
Krishna took the bundle and ate a handful of the rice. “This is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted!” Krishna said.
To Krishna, it wasn’t just rice—it was a gift of pure love.
A Magical Surprise
Sudama stayed for a few days, feeling very happy just to be with his friend. When it was time to go home, Krishna hugged him again. Sudama hadn’t asked for anything, and Krishna hadn’t given him any gold, but Sudama’s heart felt light and happy.
But when Sudama got back to his village, his tiny hut was gone! In its place stood a beautiful house filled with yummy food and pretty clothes for his family. Krishna had used his magic to help his friend, even without being asked.
